Alicia J. Augello-Cook was born on January 25, 1981 in Manhattan, New York City. Alicia, a musician and film actress has sold over 25 million albums worldwide, has won eleven Grammy Awards,
eleven Billboard Music Awards and three American Music Awards.
"I grew up in New York, and thank God, I never had to go through that in regards to, 'You're not black enough, you're not white enough,'
the whole kind of white/black-mixture thing. I never had to go through that.
I went through prejudices and all, surely. But I never had to battle with those two parts of me.".
In 1985 Keys starred in one episode of the
popular sitcom "The Cosby Show". Alicia Keys made her big-screen debut in early 2007 in the crime film "Smokin' Aces".
Alicia's second film "The Nanny Diaries" was based on the novel of the same name.
In her latest movie outing Alicia stars alongside Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifah in "The Secret Life of Bees"
