Lianne Paul Piper was born on 22 September 1982 in Swindon, Wiltshire, England.
Her parents changed her given name from Lianne to Billie three weeks after registering her birth.
Piper became the youngest artist ever to debut at number one in the UK singles chart with the
1998 hit "Because We Want To".
In May 2001 Billie married radio DJ and television presenter Chris Evans in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas.
Their marriage lasted for six years.
In 2005 Billie starred in the BBC television series Doctor Who as Rose Tyler.
She won Most Popular Actress at both the 2005 and 2006 National Television Awards for her role as the Doctor's sidekick.
