William Robert Young was born on 20th January 1979 in Wokingham, Berkshire.
He rose to fame in 2002 after winning the UK televised Saturday night singing contest Pop Idol beating Gareth Gates
in the final.
Hiss first single was the fastest-selling debut in UK chart history, a double A-side featuring Westlife's "Evergreen" and "Anything Is Possible", a new song written specifically for the winner of the show.
Young released his debut album, From Now On in October 2002, and his second only 14 mnoths
later. Included tracks were "Light My Fire", "The Long and Winding Road"
and "Leave Right Now".
